Cookie Policy
Cookies are small files a website saves in your browser. This site also uses your browser’s local storage, which works the same way. Here is everything we use, grouped by what it is for.
Only the first group runs without asking. The others stay off until you accept them, and you can change your choice whenever you like.
Needed for the site
These keep the sign-up form and your cookie choice working. They can’t be turned off, and they aren’t used for advertising.
| Name | Set by | What it does | How long |
|---|---|---|---|
| sc_sess | scotiacafeacademy.com | Set only after you sign up, so the thank-you page is counted once | Until you close the browser |
| sc_consent (local storage) | scotiacafeacademy.com | Remembers your cookie choice | Until you clear it, or we update this policy |
Measurement
Google Analytics, only if you allow it. It tells us which pages get read and where visitors come from, in aggregate.
| Name | Set by | What it does | How long |
|---|---|---|---|
| _ga | Tells visits apart | 2 years | |
| _ga_* | Keeps track of the current visit | 2 years |
Advertising
Google Ads, only if you allow it. It tells us which ads lead to sign-ups, and may be used by Google to show you ads on other sites. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, these stay off.
| Name | Set by | What it does | How long |
|---|---|---|---|
| _gcl_au | Links ad clicks to sign-ups on this site | 90 days | |
| _gcl_aw, _gcl_gb | Stores the ad click that brought you here | 90 days | |
| sc_gclid, sc_gbraid, sc_wbraid (session storage) | scotiacafeacademy.com | Keeps the ad click ID while you browse, so it reaches the form | Until you close the tab |
| IDE, and others on google.com / doubleclick.net | Ad delivery and measurement across sites | Up to 13 months |
When you refuse, Google tags on this site still receive cookieless signals that do not identify you (Google Consent Mode). How Google uses data from partner sites: policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
